Do used yachts come with any kind of warranty?
In short, no. As with the purchase of most pre-owned items no warranty is given with the purchase of a yacht coming off charter. However, a good deal of due diligence goes into the purchase of your yacht including a pre-purchase survey and sea trial as well as follow up inspection at the completion of phase out. When you pick the boat up you can go on one final test sail of up to 4 hours in length to ensure all is satisfactory. Can I buy a used dinghy?
As a brokerage we do not have any used dinghies for sale. However, the charter base often has several in their dinghy pool that can be parted with for a very reasonable amount. These won’t be showpieces but should get you through your first couple of seasons of cruising. As these dinghy’s will have been used overseas they will not be registered nor eligible for US registration if your plans include coming back to the US.
What inventory is included with the boat? Is safety gear included?
Your yacht will come with its charter inventory including galley-ware, bedding, cockpit cushions, and any other items outlined in the online listing. The boats will have basic safety gear including flares, horn, life jackets, and a liferaft (not in Tortola). If the liferaft is out of date it will not be re-certified.
Are any watersports equipment included?
Generally, no. However if you are purchasing a yacht that was in the crewed fleet it will have a kayak, paddleboard, and the dinghy that was used during her charter service.
What electronics are onboard the yacht?
All of what would be considered “essential” electronics are outfitted on the charter yachts. This will include a chartplotter, VHF radio, autopilot, and wind/depth/speed instrument.
